CEOP
Computing at Godinton

New technologies are emerging all the time and are likely to affect future education, employment, and the way we live. Our Computing vision is:

To give all members of the school community the necessary skills and ability to use emerging technologies with confidence. We aim to give all members of the school community access to up to date equipment and resources that can be explored safely. Our learning environment should be accessible by all and take account of different learning and personal needs. Computing skills will be embedded in all areas of the curriculum and extended school life, and will be used as a life-long learning tool.

E-Safety

The Internet has become an everyday part of children’s lives and brings with it new opportunities to communicate and handle information from across the globe. However, increased provision brings with it increased risk. At Godinton Primary School we have a robust set of policies and practices in place to ensure that learners are safe. The use of the internet is an essential part of learning, as required by the National Curriculum. To enable pupils to access the internet safely we ask that both pupils and their parents/carers sign the school’s Acceptable Use Policy to show that our e-Safety Rules have been understood and agreed.

Staff are trained in e-safety issues and we educate pupils on how to keep themselves safe online and how to use new technologies responsibly. We have clear e-Safety Rules and Sanctions which are prominently displayed throughout the school. Pupils also participate in e-safety awareness projects such as National Safer Internet Day and Anti-Bullying Week.

We aim to help parents understand e-safety issues and risks and provide information on how parents can help keep their children stay safe on-line at home. Please view our Computing policies below and if you require further information on any computing or e-safety issue please contact:

The Internet can be a wonderful learning tool with information resources which provide new opportunities for learning and sharing of information. However, parents should be aware of the potential dangers posed to their children on-line and take measures to ensure their children can enjoy using the internet safely.
